Home' Weddings Shoalhaven : 2010 Contents heap lingerie is never a good idea, least of all on your
wedding day. Properly fitted, quality underwear can be
considered an investment in your health and it can also
dramatically change your posture and shape. Whether
your bridal gown is strapless, figure hugging, satin or one
shouldered finding the appropriate lingerie will ensure you are
comfortable and that the dress sits correctly. Below is a guide to the
types of undergarments most suited to certain styles of dress.
If your dress is...strapless, you need...a bustier
Most brides think that a strapless bra is needed for strapless gowns
and while this may be an option, a bustier is an even better
solution. The reason being the bustier creates a smooth line from
bust to waist and the boning provides better overall support.
If your dress is...made from satin, chiffon or silk, you need...
a seamless body suit.
With delicate fabrics, the boning or bows on a bustier can create
unsightly bumps and lumps. A seamless body suit achieves a similar
effect in a more invisible way. A thong style is best as you wont get
any visible line under close fitting dresses and choose a micro fibre
If your dress is...sleeveless, you need...a bra and panties
Depending on the width of the straps, you can get away with the
more traditional bra and underpants with a sleeveless gown. Here it
is important to be fitted properly for the bra and consider whether
any colour or embroidery will be visible through the dress. On your
bottom half you can choose from full briefs, bikini briefs, g-string or
thong and this will depend on your dress and what you are
If your dress is...backless, you need...an adhesive bra
A good adhesive bra should last for around 12 hours if applied
correctly to clean, dry skin. You can get adhesive bras with under
wire built into them so larger breasted girls can still get support.
Other pieces, such as garters and hosiery, that provide support,
cover flaws and that are just plain fun can be incorporated as well.

Lingerie for the big day
And for the honeymoon
he wedding day isn't the only occasion for which you
will require new lingerie; there is also the wedding night
and the honeymoon to think about. Depending on what
your budget is like it is definitely better to buy fewer
pieces of better quality and resist the temptation to load up on
cheaper gear, which is still apt to look nice but won't last as long.
Despite the fact that it will probably end up on the floor within five
minutes, finding lingerie you are comfortable in and that suits you
will mean it doesn't end up in a drawer after first use. If you are
fun and playful you may want to look at getting a cheeky baby doll
with matching underpants or a raunchy costume. If you want
romance to rule, a long gown that sweeps the floor while revealing
bare shoulders may be more suitable. A variety of styles will keep
things interesting and give you options depending on the mood.
